Launched in 2010, contemporary public art exhibitions have been a staple of what people see and experience when they visit Hermann Park. Part of Hermann Park’s expanded master plan includes engaging public programs to enhance the visitor experience.
Building on the success of the 2014 Art in the Park Series during the Centennial Celebrations, the new Public Art Initiative includes three programs: Dedicated, permanent spaces for public art; an ongoing fund for future exhibitions; and an opening exhibition to relaunch public art programming in Hermann Park.
The Permanent Fund will ensure the ongoing display of engaging, unique public art in Hermann Park now and for future generations. Click here to download the gift form by clicking here.
Two dedicated art spaces along Fannin Street will allow display of ongoing, temporary public art installations. These “art zones” are a part of The Commons at Hermann Park, the next great project in the plan for Hermann Park. To learn more about the Commons, click here.
An opening exhibition will bring the works of an acclaimed visual artist to Houston, presented in a venue free and open to all, with the goal to launch the new era of public art in Hermann Park. Stay tuned for more information.
