For more than a century, Hermann Park has served as a gathering place for all Houstonians. It remains a Park designed for every citizen of Houston, including those with four legs — so Hermann Park Conservancy is excited to announce plans for an off-leash dog park!
Spreading out over 2.4 acres off South MacGregor Way along Brays Bayou and tucked into habitats native to Houston, this thoughtfully designed dog park will offer separate areas for small and large dogs, areas to play for both dogs and their owners, an interactive water feature, plenty of natural shade, surface parking, and much more.
Lauren Griffith Associates is developing the design of the dog park, consistent with the vibrant improvements to Hermann Park over the last decade. She will create a space as beautiful as it is fun, one that promises to be the highlight of any dog's day in the Park.
As with every project from Hermann Park Conservancy, the goal of this dog park is to engender community in the neighborhoods surrounding the Park and beyond. The Conservancy will be hosting a public informational meeting on Tuesday, April 9, to share the early plans and take feedback. In the meantime, please email your ideas and comments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hermann Park Conservancy is now raising funds for the development and construction of the dog park. A portion of every gift will also go to the creation of an ongoing maintenance fund that will ensure the dog park will be beautiful for generations to come.
Donors who make a gift of more than $25,000 will be recognized — along with their beloved dogs, of course — on permanent signage in the dog park.
For their efforts in making this dedicated maintenance fund possible, donors who make gifts of $500 or more will be recognized on signage in the dog park as follows:
