Spring break runs March 9-17. With all of the wonderful things to see and do in Hermann Park, traffic is expected to be heavy during this time. For your convenience, we urge you to carpool, walk, ride your bike or ride METRO's bus system or METRORail to the Park while planning your visit during spring break. Hours for the Hermann Park Railraod, pedal boats Pinewood Cafe and McGovern Centennial Gardens will also be extended so you can enjoy more of what Hermann Park has to offer during spring break! Spring break hours for the following Hermann Park attractions are as follows:
The Hermann Park Railroad, a Houston favorite for over two generations, will extend its hours to 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. for Spring Break! Tickets are $3.75 per person, one year and older. All day passes will not be available. The pedal boats will operate 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Pedal boats are $12 per boat for 30 minutes, up to four people per boat. One rider must be at least 18 years old with a valid government issued ID.
Starting March 10, McGovern Centennial Gardens are open daily from 9 am to 7 pm! Explore Houston’s premier garden attraction right here in Hermann Park. Whether you prefer traditional roses or prickly cacti, there’s a garden you’ll love. The McGovern Centennial Gardens is home to a diverse collection of gardens including an arid garden, a rose garden, a woodland garden, an interactive family garden, and more. Get a bird’s-eye view of it all by walking the spiral path to the top of a 30-foot mount.
Located in Hermann Park’s Lake Plaza, between Kinder Train Station and the Pedal Boat Lagoon, Pinewood Cafe features fresh salads, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, a kids’ menu, smoothies, and fun build-your-own grilled cheese menu! The Cafe also features an assortment of domestic and craft beer as well as wine. The dining terrace overlooking McGovern Lake is an unbeatable setting for an enjoyable meal or a cold adult beverage! During Spring Break Pinewood Cafe will be open 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
The McGovern Centennial Gardens will feature a rotation of some of the most popular food trucks in Houston. Operating from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., these trucks will offer Park visitors a wide assortment of food and drink options. If you work or live in the area, just walk on over to the Park for lunch.
Steel City Pops will be set up in two locations in Hermann Park during Spring Break: Lake Plaza near the entrance to the Houston Zoo, and at the McGovern Centennial gardens adjacent to the Cherie Flores Garden Pavilion. Stop by for an amazing frozen treat.
