Special Programs
Hermann Park Conservancy's Volunteer Department oversees a few special programs available to interested volunteers. If you are interested in participating in one of these programs, please email volunteer@hermannpark.org.
Conservation Posse Conservation Posse is a two-week summer program for teens. The program was developed to teach young adults about conservation, environmental issues, parks, and the mission of Hermann Park Conservancy, and is offered for free to participants. Volunteer projects, a speaker series, and fun team-building activities have made this program a hit among its participants.
If your company may be interested in sponsoring Conservation Posse, please email volunteer@hermannpark.org.
Eagle Scout Projects The Conservancy is happy to work with Boy Scouts to help them plan and execute Eagle Scout service projects in Hermann Park. Boy Scouts work closely with the Volunteer Department to choose a project aligned with the Conservancy's mission to restore and beautify the Park.
Job Shadowing Ideal for young adults, the job shadowing program was designed to allow participants to "shadow" staff members around the Park to help out and learn what it takes to maintain the Park on a daily basis.
The program is open to students who are looking to gain valuable job skills. Participants in this program are expected to complete 100 hours of service within a three month period.
Project Facilitators Project facilitators are extremely important to the overall volunteer program because they serve as ambassadors of the volunteer coordinator. Project facilitators are trained to greet, prepare, and lead volunteer groups in Hermann Park. Thanks to their leadership, the volunteer coordinator can schedule multiple groups during the same period, allowing more volunteers to have a greater impact.
Project facilitators are expected to complete 50 hours of service a year.
