Celebrate the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fought for a world where all people live with dignity and respect, where differences of color and background take a back seat to a person's character. His commitment to racial and social equality for all human beings left an indelible impact on our country's history. Dr. King believed in the power of the human spirit and that people who stand up for what they believe is right will ultimately emerge victorious. His passion for justice galvanized the civil rights movement and changed American history forever.
To celebrate Dr. King's legacy of justice and freedom for all, Houston City Council Member Ada Edwards has proposed to commission a statue of Dr. King in Hermann Park, Houston's historic urban landmark. The Hermann Park Conservancy is a partner on this important project.
You can help us write the next chapter in Houston's history and tell the world once and for all that Houston is a city for everyone. As we mourn the loss of Coretta Scott King, Dr. King's partner in peace and equality, please do your part to make this statue a reality. There are three ways to donate:
(1) Click here to donate online - click on the drop down menu and choose the option for the Dr. King statue (bottom of list).
(2) Click here to download the full brochure (in PDF format) with a payment form - you can mail checks and fax or mail the credit card information.
(3) Visit the Hermann Park Conservancy offices (6201-A Golf Course Drive, white building with red tile roof across from the Houston Zoo) and make your contribution in person. We would love to meet you!
Don't miss this chance to participate in this unique opportunity to be a part of history and to honor the legacy of one of the great Americans, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Thank you for your support.
